Is your jewelry looking old and dingy-have no fear here are some suggestions how you can maintain your beautiful jewelry in the gorgeous Boca Raton. First suggestion is, don’t drape your pearls or other expensive beaded necklaces on a hook or doorknob. The beads will weigh down the string and then you will have to have them restrung, rather lay them flat and store them in a soft cloth or jewelry pouch. You are not going to believe this one, as you enjoy soaking in a bath and enjoy the warm soapy water so does your diamond engagment ring. As soon as you get out look at your beautiful engagment ring and see it smile back at you. They were instantly cleaned; don’t try it with pearls, opals, turquoise or other porous stones. These stones should never be worn swimming, washing dishes or showering as the color and texture can change. On the flip side, don’t soak in a swimming pool with your diamonds. While you always see in the magazine ads, images of jewelry by the poolside, don’t be fooled. Chlorine is not great for the stones and metal. The metal can discolor and weaken and cause the piece to change shape.
Whatever you do, try not to get chemicals on your diamond engagement ring, diamond bracelet or any jewelry on your hands. DO NOT clean with your jewelry on unless you are wearing gloves. The chemicals such as bleach, ammonia, acetone, etc. can dull your metal and pit your stones. So remember only wear gloves to clean your house. Or maybe you should just pay someone to clean your house for you. And what about when you put on your makeup and do your hair. Your jewelry should always be put on last. Your makeup lotions (which includes suntan, body lotion, body glitter, gel…) can put a film on your diamond that is dulls the shine of your stone. Think of your jewelry as the icing on the cake-it goes last.
When you store your jewelry, pieces shouldn’t hav them touch one another. If you just throw your pieces on the counter they can rub against each other and get scratched. Even the stones can get scratched. When a jeweler packs jewelry we store the pieces separate from one another, we don’t take chances with our goods, why should you.
Make sure that you get your jewelry a checkup at the jewelers. It must be a jeweler that you trust, you don’t want your stone swapped or charged for something you don’t need. We hear so many stories from customers that came in after being cheated. Regarding your ring-prongs will loosen and your center stone just might fall out. We had a client come in, she had lost her center stone, the prongs wore down and the diamond fell out, luckily her grandson found the stone in her car. She took it to Diamonds by Eyal we built up the prongs and secured the center stone. Her daughter also had her ring checked while she was her with her mom. Both customers were very happy.
